What Is The Carnegie Medal Award?

This makeshift memorial is located on the lighthouse pier in Sodus Point NY. Draven, an avid fisherman, had jumped into the water to help three women who were in distress. The women were eventually rescued and pulled ashore, but Draven was overcome by the rough waters, and did not make it after being taken to the hospital. This good Samaritan was hailed a hero, with a plaque and bronze medallion to prove it. Draven was awarded the Carnegie Medal Award, given to civilians who risk death or serious physical injury to an extraordinary degree saving or attempting to save the lives of others. Thank you Draven for being a hero!
